I use them all the time. Just make sure to read the exclusions/stipulations on the certificate before you buy it.

You should be able to do takeout just make sure to ask before you show up to pick up order. Most of these are great deals but I did once use the FiFi's gift certificate and ending up still spending a TON at the restaurant. I also used Clauddagh recently and that experience was great! My girlfriend and I ordered on the same check and our total was only $10 each. This included the gratuity that they add onto the check.
